In your introduction to PLoS Medicine, I was surprised to see no mention of BioMed Central (http://www.biomedcentral....), an open-access publisher of journals on the Web. Their articles are, like yours, peer-reviewed, and when accepted are "paid for" by the author(s) or his institution. They are listed in PubMed when they go online.
