Much has changed in the last 10 years. We have seen publication of anti-ghostwriting guidelines by many organisations, and a revision of ICMJE guidelines to make it clear that medical writers should be acknowledged for their role. I'm not sure that anecdotes from 10 years ago tell us anything very useful about the situation in 2011
