This piece really misses the relevant audience when published in a medical journal.

The medicine here was clear and uncontroversial. What happened was a sociological event and responsibility and retribution for the illness caused lies well away from the medical community.

Prevention of future such episodes might conceivably be assisted by this article but not published here.
