This synopsis leaves out the critical issue of whether these women died of their breast cancer. Perhaps it is analagous to prostate cancer in men - i.e., one dies with it but not because of it. Additionally, women may not want to undergo toxic treatments when they are at an advanced age and prefer to keep their quality of life as a priority rather than its quantity.
